Quite simply anxiety sucks! It is a horrible feeling and one that we can feel powerless to change on our own. The only response seems to our anxiety, seems to be some form of avoidance or escape.
The problem with this response is that not only does our anxiety system get stronger and we feel more intense anxiety, our anxiety response moves us further away from our goals and dreams. Instead of protecting us from our fears becoming a reality, listening to our anxiety will actually make those fears come true. This is the reason we have to learn how to break its powerful evolutionary hold over us.
So, there must be a way to change this and that is why you are here. What if learning to stand up to our anxiety is a lot like learning to do any skill? First, by learning about how the brain works and some tools to help anxiety from being able to hijack our brain, we then learn how to systematically approach our anxiety in a way that gets our anxiety response to lower. That is the FACE approach.
Part of the FACE approach is the belief that not only do you need to learn these skills and approach things differently, what if everyone in your life is using the same playbook with you to change the impact your anxiety has on you? This is where the FACE approach can get even more powerful, that the people who care about you and want to support you can learn better ways to respond to your anxiety as you do, that your environment learns as you learn.
